About

Welcome! Let’s get down to it: the purpose of this blog is to talk books. I have a lot to say about books.

I’m being a bit facetious in the title, as I really do not intend to over-analyse. However, it is my belief that the very best books hold up to and benefit from a little careful digging. So that’s what we’ll do. (For more on the meaning of my blog name, see this post.)

I encourage discussion, especially if you disagree with me. The best thing about books is that everyone brings their personal experiences to them and comes away with something that is a little bit different.

This post explains my structure for book reviews.

But Who Am I?

Professional picture for professional bio…

My name is Chloe. I am a historical fiction writer who has a deep love of books and language. Besides the literary arts, I greatly enjoy music, visual arts, film, theatre, and good food. My favourite book is Les Miserables.

There you are, a professional little bio.

But Who Am I, Really?

…and a more accurate depiction.

That’s a good question. I’m not really an expert, but I’ll tell you what I can.

  1. I love books—obviously.
  2. I don’t know how to adult.
  3. I love tea more than almost anything, and coffee only slightly less.
  4. I feel that the octopus emoji functions for virtually all of my texting needs (maybe because I don’t text much…)
  5. People often don’t understand my sense of humour… My grandmother says we just have a “highly developed sense of irony” in our family, and that’s why.
  6. I have a lot of nice-sounding reasons for writing historical fiction, but the fact is, I want to write sci-fi more than anything, I just don’t have the imagination for it.
  7. I change at least one word on this page pretty much every week.

Additionally, the posts in this tag might be informative.

I am delighted that you have found your way to my blog, and I hope you have a lovely day!

  1. Ahhhh! So this is what an about page should look like. LOL
I have yet to put anything of consequence up on my blog’s about page because four days into being a blogger I still had not quite figured this out yet. Opps! 😛
Thanks for sharing a bit about you.

    1. Well, I’ve just been to see yours and I rather like the aura of mystery. 🙂 Mine certainly is no example of what an about page should be, haha. I’ve seen so many better. I’m rubbish at talking about myself. But thank you!

      1. Gotta check spam more often; there were several non-spam comments in there, all from people who’ve commented on my blog before, so I’m not sure what happened. Anyway, thanks again and I will try to get to this soon! I’m falling behind on tags/awards.

  2. I love your blog!! I’ve been reading one post after another instead of doing some work 😛 That picture of Les Miserables books reminded me of my collection of The Merchant of Venice. It’s my favorite play and I have so many editions! Looking forward for more posts!

    1. Thank you so much! Making someone else procrastinate as I do was my secret reason all along for having this blog! Not really, but it could be. I think having multiple versions of a favourite book/play is not a weird thing at all. Glad you get it! 😀 Thank you so much again; glad you found your way to my blog.

  3. We have a lot common! And since I happen to be a book worm myself, your blog is going to be my go to for book reviews.
Oh and by the way, you are very beautiful. 🙂
